Having existed in the first years (2001-2004) as the United Front to Oust the Oil Depot (UFO-OD), AESJ is currently focused on the campaign to relocate the oil depots in Pandacan, to stop the operations of the Batangas-Pandacan oil pipeline and to gain immediate restitution for the victims of the operations of these facilities by the oil companies.

Throughout more than a decade, AESJ has persisted, using various platforms, in informing the communities of Pandacan and the surrounding areas as well as those of Manila and the nation about the dangers posed by the continuing existence of the Pandacan oil depot and the Batangas-Pandacan pipeline amidst a densely populated locality.

We have consistently called the attention of local and national officials for the need to relocate the Pandacan oil depots to a safe place. We have appealed tirelessly, here and abroad, to the oil companies to heed the vital need to secure the health and lives of the people against actual and potential hazards including the possibility of a catastrophic one.

Like David, AESJ is committed to overcome Goliath! We shall persist until the health and lives of people in our communities are secured or until catastrophe, borne of greed and selfish mindlessness, strikes us.

AESJ is based in Pandacan, Manila. Most of its members come from District 6 of Manila but also from different parts of Metro Manila. It is a member of the Ecowaste Coalition and is a partner of the Youth Solidarity Against the Oil Depots (YSAD), Social Justice Society, Philippine Society of Emergency Medical Technicians (PSEMT), the Filipino-American Coalition for Environmental Solidarity (FACES) and Friends of the Earth-International (FOE-I). AESJ’s President is Mr. Tony Santos and its Secretary-General is Mr. Sixto Carlos.
